Well, Money magazine came out with its (presumably annual) "Best Places to Live" list. In the wake of Sept. 11, they gave top honors to New York City, but also given top scores was Portland, Oregon, named "Best Big City." (Honolulu didn't do that badly, all things considered - though I can't help wondering if "Number of AmTrak Stations: 0" was included in the overall calculations.)
I ended up browsing around the Portland Oregon Visitors Association and the Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce for more facts and figures. I could always apply to be a cop with the Portland Police Department - maybe the bike patrol unit? I don't think I'm subject to any of these disqualifiers...
