Boy, those kids at the Honolulu Advertiser are really on the ball. Front page news in today's edition: Group says Honolulu 'mean' to homeless people. The story, about a national report that ranks the city among the nation's worst in its treatment of the poor and homeless, sounded familiar — particularly as it was being shamelessly recycled this morning by the radio stations as chat fodder and even HPR's "news summaries." Why? Report says Honolulu has a mean streak, read a headline in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin on January 16. That's almost two months ago, kids — the day after the national report was released.
