Diane Ako Launches 'Inspiring Moms'
Diane Ako, popular KHNL news anchor and reporter, has penned an essay on motherhood for HawaiiMoms.com, a "discussion site" run by The Honolulu Advertiser.
"I was warned that having a baby would throw my life into a delicious uproar, but I couldn’t envision it until that day actually arrived, Day was night. Up was down. It still kind of is. I, a recovering control freak, am learning to proverbially throw my hands up in the air and just let go."
The piece, which includes photos of Diane with her daughter Olivia, is the first in a series of "writings on motherhood by women leaders of our Island community."
She's an excellent choice to kick off the online-only feature. I'm not kidding when I say she's popular. Diane earned constant coverage from the (sadly defunct) local gossip blog Talk Stink. And a discussion of her physical appearance remains one of the top search destinations at HawaiiThreads... a fact that I found somewhat mortifying until Diane showed up and proved that she has both class and a sense of humor.
"Knocker yourself out." I love it.
