Hey APAs
By random chance, I crossed paths online with someone from StirTV, "the first show for and about Asian America's next generation." I'd never heard of 'em before, and they're pretty new, but it turns out they're already syndicated in Hawaii — 5 p.m. Saturdays on KHNL (NBC) 8.
The Asian American experience for everyone outside Hawaii has always struck me as remarkably different from what's found here. (I subscribed to the failed aMagazine out of principle, but could never get into the political mindset it seemed to espouse.) It's a disconnect I've not quite puzzled out, but have enjoyed examining.
I'm really curious how StirTV will go over with local Asians. And if Hawaii is, for now, one of StirTV's larger markets, they might do well to follow FoodTV's lead and come out here now and then to see what makes us tick.
