Kanu Hawaii Day of 'Living Aloha'
Kanu Hawaii, in partnership with The Institute for Human Services and other groups, is coordinating a "Day of Living Aloha" today. The online social network -- focused on sustainable living, environmentalism, and "island style activism" -- is calling upon people across all the islands to volunteer today to improve our communities.
At Kuhio Park Terrace, over 50 Kanu Hawaii volunteers will work side-by-side with public housing residents and IHS staffers and supporters to improve the area with painting, weedwacking, cleaning and planting. Other volunteers will work with mothers and children at a homeless shelter in Manoa. On the Big Island, Kanu Hawaii members will work with public housing residents to help fix affordable units so that new families can move in.
