Kimee Balmilero to Lead Improv Classes
Hawaii-born actress Kimee Balmilero, has announced that she will be leading beginning improv classes in Honolulu starting this weekend.
Balmilero is best known to my kid-filled family for her turn on the live-action musical children's series "Hi-5" on Discovery Kids, but she was also part of the original Broadway cast for the Abba-fueled "Mamma Mia!" and the second national touring cast of "Miss Saigon." Last year, she launched "When I Grow Up," a series she wrote and directed, the latest chapter in a colorful career.
Beginning next Sunday, Nov. 21, she will lead two four-week improv classes, one for kids ages 8-12, and another for teens ages 13-17. There is no experience required, and Balmilero promises a "zero fear," fun, safe, and supportive environment. After the fourth class, there will be a free showcase for parents and friends.
"You’ll loosen up and discover that super funny person that’s living inside your heart," she writes. "These classes are the perfect little sampling of the improv world."
The classes cost $100 and you can register online with PayPal. They will be held at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in the Wailana At Waikiki building (1860 Ala Moana Blvd.).
