Wow
It was several months ago that Google unveiled its Google Maps beta incorporating the satellite imagery it apparently acquired with Keyhole.
For most major cities, it was pretty snazzy. You could see individual homes, cars, and trees. But for most of Honolulu, you could only zoom so far and get only blurry smudges before being told, "We're sorry, but we don't have imagery for this zoom level for this region."
I figured it was because of all the military bases. But, it looks like they sent those space cameras over parts of the island recently, because now the view over my neighborhood is terrific. And a little scary.
Sadly, there are still big swaths of Hawaii yet to be photographed. Like where I work near the airport. And Hilo, dear, sweet Hilo.
