'Dirty Jobs' Loses 'Faith' Theme

My family loves "Dirty Jobs" on the Discovery Channel. The concept could have gone in some really unpleasant directions, but host Mike Rowe really makes it work. Mike has filmed several segments in Hawaii, visiting a taro farm, a micro-algae farm, and a volcano dream sequence for a California-based mud bath.

From the beginning, the show's theme song was Faith No More's "We Care A Lot." The opening riffs would always bring Katie running.

But during a recent weekend marathon, we noticed some episodes had a new theme song. Well, frankly, it was obviously not a theme song so much as a generic musical nothing filling in for a theme song. Several fans who post in the show's active message boards noticed as well. Eventually, the answer came from Mike himself:

"Someone messed up, very, very, very badly.

No point in naming names. Bottom line, the rights to We Care a Lot were either not renewed on time, or not properly acquired in the first place. That sort of oversight is hard to imagine. But replacing it with the jumbled mess to which you refer is simply incomprehensible, and completely out of my/production's hands. No one asked my opinion, which leads me to consider the irony of the original title.

At any rate, I share your disappointment, and I apologize.
